For Her Lady's Hand
A downloadable game
For Her Lady's Hand is inspired by an event in the life of bisexual icon Julie D'Aubigny, a 17th-century fencing master and opera singer. When her lover's family discovered the relationship, they put Julie's girlfriend into a convent against her will. Julie mounted a rescue: she faked her way into the order, created a distraction by setting the convent on fire, and freed her partner.
This game reimagines Julie's epic tale by moving the setting back a few centuries to the Late Middle Ages.
Are you a knight? a farmer? a blacksmith? Whatever your background, you're a femme in love, and your femme partner is in trouble. Her disapproving family has torn her from your embrace and placed her in a convent, guarded and beyond your reach. Or so they think...
A sapphic happily-ever-after awaits the adventurer with a brave heart, a quick wit, and a dash of luck.
HOW TO PLAY
This is a Caltrop Core game for one GM and one player. To play, the only things you need are:
- a few d4s, or an online dice roller
- something to write with
- a printout of the character sheet and (for the GM) a copy of the included map
WHAT'S INCLUDED?
- 3 Character Backgrounds, plus the option to create a custom background
- 4 NPC Classes
- 1 Map
- 21 pages of content!
UPDATE!
I've just uploaded a copy of the map as its own file. This is for two reasons:
1. If you need or want to print an extra copy of the map, you now don't have to open up the full game file to do it.
2. I wasn't sure how best to include it in the plain text version of the game — I was afraid that it would throw off screen readers, for example. The plain text version of the game includes a brief description of the map rather than the image itself. If you want to have a copy of the map to use along with the plain text version of the game, make sure you also download the map file.
This period of queer history is complex, particularly for femme folks, whose stories have been largely overlooked — or intentionally erased. There's some fascinating research being done to (re)discover the queer history of the Middle Ages. Medievalists.net is a great starting point to learn more.

would it be in spanish?
Hi there! I'm not fluent in Spanish, but I can definitely look into finding someone to do a translation. Thank you for asking! It might be awhile, but if I get it translated, I'll post an update.
It's so beautiful!
Thank you so much!
